Your day starts with a comfortable pick-up from your hotel. From there, you will head towards Malindi, a town with a rich blend of African, Arabic, and European history.
9:00 AM – National Museum Visit
Begin your tour at the Malindi National Museum, which offers an insightful glimpse into the area's past. Here, you'll explore exhibits that feature Chinese Ming porcelain, Persian earthenware, and other historical artifacts discovered in the region. The museum’s extensive collection provides a fascinating look into Malindi’s connections to ancient trade routes and its role in the Indian Ocean trade network.
10:30 AM – Vasco da Gama’s Pillar
Next, you'll visit the Vasco da Gama Pillar, a famous landmark erected by the Portuguese explorer in 1499. The stone pillar is a testament to Malindi’s historical significance as a port of call for European explorers. The nearby Portuguese Church adds to the historical ambiance, making this a great spot for a quick history lesson and some beautiful photos.
11:30 AM – Malindi Snake Farm
Continue your exploration with a visit to the Malindi Snake Farm, where you’ll see a variety of venomous and non-venomous snakes native to the region. 1:00 PM – Lunch & Rest
After the snake farm, enjoy a delicious local lunch at one of the charming restaurants in the town, where you can sample fresh seafood and other Kenyan delicacies. This will give you the chance to rest and recharge before continuing the tour.
2:30 PM – Malindi Falconry
In the afternoon, visit Malindi Falconry, a bird of prey sanctuary that houses various species of hawks, eagles, and falcons. Here, you’ll have the chance to witness these majestic birds up close and learn about their conservation efforts and role in maintaining the balance of nature.
4:00 PM – Visit the Gede Ruins
A short drive will take you to the Gede Ruins, an ancient Swahili town that dates back to the 12th century. 5:30 PM – Return to Hotel
After soaking in the rich history and natural beauty of the area, we’ll head back to your hotel, arriving around 6:30 PM to end the day’s adventure.
